John Boris is Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer for Shutterfly, Inc. and is responsible for marketing efforts including brand and customer marketing, ecommerce, product management, business development, user experience, creative services, market research and corporate communications across the Shutterfly, Tiny Prints, Wedding Paper Divas, MyPublisher, Borrow Lenses, ThisLife and Groovebook brands. John brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, brand communications and strategic business development to his role.
John joined Shutterfly, Inc. from Lonely Planet where he served as Executive Vice President and Managing Director, overseeing all facets of the business for Lonely Planet Americas, including marketing, retail sales, B2B, and global mobile product development. Prior to Lonely Planet, John was Senior Vice President at Zagat Survey, where he managed the marketing organization, online and mobile services, customer service and production. He also led re-branding efforts and commercial aspects of Zagat interactive properties.
John also held leadership positions at 1-800 Flowers.com and FreshDirect, Inc. where the company was recognized as Marketer of the Year from The Direct Marketing Association and he was nominated for Brand Week’s Top 40 Under 40.
John earned his MBA from NYU Stern School of Business and has a BA in American Studies from Middlebury College. In his free time, John enjoys spending time with his wife and children, sailing (he is a former professional charter boat captain), following his favorite New York sports teams, being outdoors and of course taking countless photos of his family.
Gary Briggs joined Facebook in 2013 and is responsible for the company’s consumer, product and platform marketing. Prior to joining Facebook he served in various roles at Google, Inc, including CMO of Motorola upon its acquisition by Google, and VP, Consumer Marketing.
During his tenure at Google, he led marketing efforts for search, commerce, Chrome, Google+, Google.org, and the Google brand overall. Prior to joining Google in 2010, Gary was CEO at Plastic Jungle, a gift card startup, where he joined from their board of directors. Before that, Gary worked at eBay for six years in roles as vice president of Consumer Marketing, general manager of eBay Canada, global marketing head of PayPal, and CMO of eBay North America.
Earlier in his career, Gary worked for six years at Pepsi, where he launched Aquafina, Pepsi’s joint venture with Starbucks and was director of Brand Pepsi. He also spent two years at IBM running worldwide brand strategy and was an engagement manager at McKinsey.
He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984 from Brown University and a Masters in Management in 1989 from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.
Gary is married and has twin boys.
Keith leads the marketing team at TubeMogul and is responsible for evangelizing the benefits of online video advertising and analytics to brand advertisers.
Keith joined TubeMogul from The Boston Consulting Group, where he specialized in developing marketing strategies for technology and digital media firms. Prior to BCG, Keith worked with TubeMogul in its infancy at UC Berkeley and collaborated with the founders to develop the initial business plan and marketing tactics. Keith received his Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and his MBA from UC Berkeley.
As Senior Vice President, Ecosystems, and Chief Marketing Officer, Christine Heckart leads the Brocade global marketing team to drive preference and support the company’s business strategies to lead in data center networking, Network Functions Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking.
Heckart joins Brocade with more than 25 years of experience in high tech. She has served as a member of the board of directors of Lam Research, a leading supplier of wafer fabrication equipment to the semiconductor industry since 2011. Prior to joining Brocade, Heckart was executive vice president of Strategy, Marketing, People and Systems at ServiceSource, a SaaS provider in recurring revenue management. She has also held CMO roles at NetApp and Juniper Networks, served as general manager of TV, Video and Music Business at Microsoft, and was president of TeleChoice, Inc.
Heckart graduated Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in economics.
Isaacs is a successful scientist, business executive, entrepreneur, and educator. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of technology business leaders and has a strong track record of helping young entrepreneurs launch their careers. Isaacs has worked at the crossroads of advanced technology and business innovation for 30 years, 16 of those years at UC Berkeley, helping start-ups and established technology companies create and execute successful growth strategies.
Keltner is Associate Professor of Psychology at UC, Berkeley. He has been at Berkeley since 1996 where he researches the effects of human emotion on social interaction and decision-making. Keltner has published extensively on emotions, and is currently the Associate Editor of Cognition and Emotion, and Consulting Editor for Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Emotion.
Jonathan started his career as a graduate trainee in 1990 at McCann-Erickson (an agency he will be forever grateful to for the “wild card” bet they made on him). Over the next 15 years Jonathan rose rapidly through the ranks of the London Ad industry working at some of the world’s most respected creatively-driven agencies including BBH, Lowe Howard Spink, Howell Henry, TBWA and Mother. During this time he also worked on some of the world’s most compelling brands including Audi, Smirnoff, Alfred Dunhill, General Motors, Guinness and Playstation.
In 2005 Jonathan spent the summer at Harvard Business School on the Advanced Management Program—an experience that was the turning point in his professional trajectory.
In 2006 Jonathan joined The Coca-Cola Company as VP, Global Advertising Strategy and Creative. In 2007 Jonathan lead the introduction of Coca-Cola’s global marketing platform “Open Happiness,” an initiative that helped contribute to the most profitable growth period in 20 years, helping increase Coke’s share price from $29 to $81. Furthermore, the ‘Open Happiness’ platform went on to become Coke’s most awarded marketing platform in history and helped snare the prestigious accolade of 2013’s Creative Marketer Of The Year at the Cannes Lions International Festival Of Creativity. This was a career highlight for Jonathan.
In 2014 Brian Chesky, CEO of Airbnb, called Jonathan and asked him to dinner. A one hour dinner turned into two hours, then three hours, at which point Jonathan was sold on Brian’s vision to propel Airbnb into the world’s first community-driven SuperBrand.
Jonathan joined Airbnb in June 2014. He says he has never worked harder, never worked smarter, never felt more creative in his life. He says, “Airbnb has literally taken twenty years off me – I feel as energized and excited about the work that I do as I did in my late twenties.” My job is to create the most preeminent 21st Century SuperBrandMarketing organization. I have no idea how I will do it. But that’s really the best part about it. We get to invent a whole new playbook.”
Scott Moffitt joined Nintendo in May 2011. Moffitt leads all sales and marketing activities for Nintendo’s $2.5B video games hardware and software business in the Americas. The region includes Canada, the United States, the Carribean and Latin America. Nintendo’s gaming systems are owned by millions of game fans throughout the region and include the revolutionary Nintendo 3DS portable game system as well as the Wii U home console. Nintendo’s huge stable of beloved game franchises include Mario, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, the Legend of Zelda, Smash Brothers and many more.
Moffitt comes to Nintendo from Henkel (formerly the Dial Corporation), where he was Senior Vice President & General Manager for the Personal Care division. He was responsible for all aspects of this operating division including sales, marketing, innovation and financial performance for leading personal-care brands such as Dial, Right Guard, Tone, Coast and Pure & Natural. During his five year stint at the helm he orchestrated an overhaul of the flagship Dial brand and led the acquisition of the deodorants business from Gillette/P&G.
Moffitt’s 22-plus years of leadership and marketing experience also include a formidable stint at PepsiCo, where he helped grow and revitalize the SoBe portfolio of brands and spearheaded the launch of Mountain Dew Code Red and AMP Energy Drink. As a marketing director and manager, he also oversaw product development and repositioning efforts for an array of top beverage brands, including Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, Aquafina and Mug Old Fashioned Root Beer. Moffitt holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Arizona State University and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.
Olson co-founded Cloudera in 2008 and served as its CEO until 2013 when he took on his current role of chief strategy officer (CSO.) As CSO, Mike is responsible for Cloudera’s product strategy, open source leadership, engineering alignment and direct engagement with customers. Prior to Cloudera Mike was CEO of Sleepycat Software, makers of Berkeley DB, the open source embedded database engine. Mike spent two years at Oracle Corporation as vice president for Embedded Technologies after Oracle’s acquisition of Sleepycat in 2006.
Saffo is a forecaster with over two decades experience exploring the dynamics of large-scale, long-term change. He is Managing Director of Foresight at Discern Analytics, and teaches at Stanford University where he is also a Visiting Scholar in the Stanford Media X research network. Paul serves on a variety of not-for-profit boards including the Long Now Foundation, and the Bay Area Council Economic Institute. Paul’s essays have appeared in a wide range of publications including The Harvard Business Review, Fortune, Wired, The Los Angeles Times, Newsweek, The New York Times, and the Washington Post.
Jen Sey currently holds the post of Global Chief Marketing Officer for the Levi’s® Brand. She assumed the role in September after holding a variety of marketing, strategy and commercial posts at Levi’s®.
Twenty years ago, she began her career at an advertising agency, Foote Cone and Belding, where she learned the ropes working on a variety of brands including Levi’s® and Taco Bell. She went on to become the advertising manager at Banana Republic and was a key driver of transitioning the brand from “safari” to “sophisticated”.
In 1999, she joined Levi Strauss and Co. and held a broad range of assignments including Director of Marketing for U.S. Levi’s®, Senior Director of Global Strategy for Levi’s®, Vice President of Global Marketing for Levi Strauss & Co and SVP for Dockers Global Marketing. Notably, she led the global re-launch of the 501® Jean, the development and launch of the game changing innovation for women, Curve ID, and the global re-introduction of Dockers via the “Wear the Pants” campaign. In 2012, she stepped into the role of Senior Vice President of Global Ecommerce driving the business and re-platforming efforts for both levi.com and dockers.com across the regions.
As a child, Sey led an intense life of dedication, challenge and competition. At just seven years old she entered her first gymnastics competition, and after nearly 10 years of participating in competitive gymnastics, Sey won the title of US National Champion in 1986. As a result of winning this title, less than one year after having suffered a devastating injury at the 1985 World Championships, the U.S. Olympic Committee named her Athlete of the Year in Gymnastics. After 8 years on the national team, Jennifer retired from the sport and went on to study at Stanford University where she double majored in Communications and Political Science.
In 2006, she earned the distinction of “Top 40 Marketers under 40” and in 2008 she released her first book, “Chalked Up”, a memoir detailing her triumphs and struggles within the world of competitive gymnastics.
Sey now lives in San Francisco, California with her three sons Virgil, Wyatt and Oscar. She lends her voice to online outlets Salon.com, Mommytrackd.com and BasilandSpice.com, and she continues her work started with “Chalked Up” as an athlete advocate.
Wilton teaches strategy, marketing and international management at UC Berkeley. He has also served as a Visiting Professor at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, and on the faculties of Duke and Purdue Universities in the United States, Macquarie Graduate School of Management, the University of Melbourne, and the Australian Graduate School of Management in Australia. Wilton has been the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships for his work in management, including several from the National Science Foundation and the Marketing Science Institute. He has been on the Berkeley faculty for 23 years.
